| Shobhaa
De for CPAA
|
|
Renowned
author and columnist Shobhaa De has been one of CPAA's
biggest pillars of support. She is one of our longest
standing patrons and greatest supporters throughout the
years. She has played a major role in the growth of CPAA by
consistently donating for cancer patients personally and
through several friends.
In her newest
endeavour, Shobhaa De collaborates with Saffronart for their
unique online auction of six specially created pieces of
jewellery by six eminent Indian women. Anjolie Ela Menon,
Avanti Birla, Maharani Gayatri Devi , Parmeshwar Godrej,
Shobana Chandrakumar Pillai and Shobhaa De have each pledged
the proceeds from the auction of the jewellery designed
by them to six charitable organisations. Shobhaa De
has chosen CPAA to be the beneficiary of her participation. Shobhaa
De's design epitomizes giving and love, and can be worn as a
hair ornament, a brooch or even a pendant. Each flower has
two brilliant round diamonds on each petal. An exquisite 76
cent Forevermark diamond holds the delicate bouquet
together.
The auction
which is an entirely charitable event, will take place
online online at www.inspirations.saffronart.com
on Wednesday January 23 - Thursday January 24, 2008. Do

| Happy
Birthday Dia !

Dia
Mirza celebrated her birthday this year with Cancer Patients
Aid Association at Mc'Donalds (Bandra).
50

themselves in the festivities of the day. They gifted
their ‘Dia Didi’ with a specially designed card,
soft toys and flowers. She in turn made sure each child got
a return gift as a remembrance of the day.

| Globus
becomes Santa !
|
|
Mumbaites
got a chance to play Santa this year due to a unique
initiative by Globus Department stores. To mark
the start of the festive season, they installed a 111.2 feet
tall, gigantic red stocking outside their popular clothes
outlet in Bandra.
Dino
Morea, CPAA's anti-tobacco ambassador was on hand to
inaugurate the efforts.
The
general public has been encouraged to drop in toys,
books, clothes and other items as donations for over 1000
cancer and AIDS affected children in the city. Children from
Cancer Patients Aid Association will be one of the
beneficiaries of this venture.
The
stocking has broken the earlier record of a 90 feet tall
stalking that was hung in Toronto in November, 2007. The
Limca Book of World Records has already declared the Bandra
stocking as the biggest in the world.

22
patients were counseled while 46 patients were given aid
in different forms at the Delhi Branch. The center adopted
4 new child patients and 3 adult patients over and above the
ongoing budgeted aid.

different festivals, the story behind each one and
their importance by enacting plays with various
characters like Ravan , Krishna, Ram, Christ etc. While
undergoing treatment, these children miss out on
their education. Through the playgroups, we try to
keep them abreast with their formal education by
introducing alphabets through simple teaching aids.
In our craft classes this month we taught them the art of
making soft toy puppets.
