The Patient Care Department played Santa this year to bring in more than just Christmas cheer into the lives of our brave little patients and their family members.

A Christmas party was organised by CPAA's Jennifer Quadros and was sponsored by three of her friends who arranged for snacks, entertainment and games. Employees of the Aditya Birla Group actively participated in it by guiding the audience in singing traditional Christmas carols.
16 year old Athiya Kamran suffers from blood cancer. After months of trying, when the doctors had finally given her only 3 months of survival, CPAA happened to hear out her last wish. As an ardent fan of Sanjay Dutt she had written a shayari (peom) for him and wished to meet and read it out to him . When we heard about this, we immediately got into action and passed on the word to him. Sanjay Dutt was more than willing to oblige and invited her along with family to his house right away.

We were indeed fortunate to have been able to fulfill Athiya's wish.

Genetic Counseling Course at Reliance School of Life Science
Reliance School of Life Sciences organised a course in Genetic Counseling on 27th January 2007. The first of it's kind in India, this course provides an excellent opportunity to interact with the best minds in the field of reproductive and fetal medicine, empowering clinicians in day-to-day patient management decisions, based on current evidence-based practices.

The course provided relevant genetic information to patients and their family members facing risks of the disease. This two-week course aimed at giving comprehensive training in the complex science of medical genetics, as well as in counseling skills. It covered various aspects of human genetic diseases, testing and methodology, as well as facilitated an understanding of the psychological and social aspects of counseling in which CPAA partnered with the organisers. Dr.Shubha Maudgal and Ms. Meghana Suchak conducted a 2 day session on the psycho-social aspects of counseling at the seminar.
