Colours of Life - 'Thumbprints in Time' :

A special screening of the movie "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" was organised for our young  patients by Cinemax Multiplexes on June 23, 2007. Actress Lara Dutta's presence made the occasion very special for these 300 children battling cancer. After the show, Lara Dutta spent time with the patients and showered them with special gifts. Each one of them got her autograph as a memento.

Summer camp - A piece of childhood that cancer had taken away was restored
CPAA was invited to participate in a unique event organised and sponsored by the Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society (ACS) to promote interaction between children who have conquered cancer from all over the world. 57 young delegates from 19 countries joined campers from around USA in this World Oncology Camp on June 16, 2007, in Jackson, Michigan. The camp gave the children a chance to share their experiences with the disease as well as an opportunity to exchange cultures and traditions. The 1,200-acre YMCA facility, located in the Irish Hills area of southeast Michigan, offered swimming, horseback riding, climbing, and other outdoor activities. 

Highlights of this year's camp included songs sung by national delegations around the campfire, a candlelight ceremony with small decorated boats from each country, and the planting of a peace pole at the closing ceremony. Our young delegates Mitali, Ankit, Umapati and Bidurin were accompanied by Dr. Indira Nair and Ms. Gulshan Hodiwalla from CPAA. The one-week summer camp was followed by a home stay with an American host.

Our young patients from the CPAA Delhi branch had the unique opportunity of meet their cricket idol, Mahinder Singh Dhoni and see him in action at a friendly match played between 2 teams of GE Money at the Ferozshah Kotla Ground on 4th June 2007.

Ghazal Khazana - CPAA joins hands with Parents' Association Thalassemic Unit Trust (PATUT), yet again to bring to the city of Mumbai 'Ghazal Khazana' - a festival of Ghazals and Mushairas. This fund-raising concert, a the brain-child of Ghazal Maestro and CPAA Patron, Shri. Pankaj Udhas has been a resounding success since its inception. The concert will be held at the Hilton (Oberoi) Towers on July 27 & 28, 2007. For the first time ever the concert will feature eminent poets like Janab Ahmed Faraaz & Janab Zafar Gorakhpuri reciting their poetry followed by a Ghazal performance by eminent artistes like Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, Nina & Rajinder Mehta, Mitalee &  Bhupinder Singh, Ahmed and Mohammed Hussain, Penaz Masani, and Pankaj Udhas. Colours of Life III - 'Thumbprints in Time' : For the third consecutive year, CPAA brings to you "Colours of Life" an art exhibition and sale of paintings by over 100 renowned artists for the cause of children with cancer. The theme of the event this year is "Thumbprints in Time". Children use all kinds of mediums, colours and tools to express themselves-paper and walls; paints, pastels, pencils, brushes and even parts of their bodies, especially fingers. This is especially poignant in the case of a child lost to cancer when these prints become the closest personal memory left of the child.

The paintings range from Rs. 50,000 - Rs. 5 Lakhs. Email aditi.bapat@cpaaindia.org with your complete mailing address if you wish to receive an invite to the exhibition to be held at Cymroza Art Gallery from 6 - 11 August 2007.
