Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) in association with Cymroza Art Gallery present their fifth Annual Art Exhibition 'Colors of Life' - 5 years of spreading happiness. The theme for this year's exhibition is Affordable Art for Affordable Drugs. Every year over 14,000 children are affected by cancer in India. The diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancers takes time, and there are number of painful side effects. Today, up to 70% of all childhood cancers are curable if treated timely and appropriately. However, many families do not have access to effective and timely treatment due to the high associated costs. The aim we focus on is the creation of funds capable of helping needy cancer patients get the benefit of the latest science has to offer. Recently a number of new products have been introduced under the heading of 'targeted therapies'. Newer drugs, especially these second line treatments prescribed after primary treatment fails, are exorbitantly priced. This becomes an ethical issue for patients and their family members who have already struggled to meet expenses for the first line of treatment. CPAA tries to assist such cases, but in recent times this has become harder and harder. Just as a wider population should have access to the best drugs available regardless of cost, there exists a wider, untapped population interested in acquiring art if they could afford it. This year, our curator, Piali Syam, has put an extra effort into identifying and sourcing a variety of works which fall within the grasp of this broader group. On offer are the works of over 100 artists, who have generously given us their creations at prices which will allow many first time buyers to take home a piece of beauty. Senior, junior, established and struggling artists from all over India have come together to create this unique collection for a cause.
