The fifth Mumbai Standard Chartered Marathon- 2007 was hailed as a huge success this year thanks to all the people who took part in it! This marathon started about 5 years ago is today it is an established marathon with participants coming from all over the world. For the professional runner it is a challenging race, a test of stamina against heat and humidity. For the amateur, it is a chance to be a part of an annual extravaganza. For NGOs, the event has become a chance to raise awareness about their cause and generate funds.

CPAA has been receiving funds from generous donors who run for our cause in the past. This year we decided to take an active part by fielding a team of our own as a part of Pledgers' United, where individuals can chose to run for a cause of their choice. They can then raise money for the cause by asking supporters to pledge funds for their participation.

CPAA also got the support of corporates, the A.V. Birla Group, Citibank, DSP Merrill Lynch and Cushman Weikfield as a part of the GiveIndia Corporate Challenge Team.

Hutch supported us by providing T-shirts which were designed by Anagha Nigwekar of JWT and SET India provided caps.

CPAA received 274 individual registrations and support from Deutsche Bank, Tata AIG, JWT and St. Xavier's College. We were represented in each category of the race-the full marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km) and the Dream Run (6 km).

On Sunday 21st January there was a sea of pink as the CPAA team assembled for the Dream Run at 8 am. Our mascot was Neeraj from St. Xavier's College who wore a crab hat on his head. Most runners ended up walking, waiting for each other to catch up. Each and every participant completed the run with Dr. Gururaj Deshpande and Dr. Pushkar Ingle came first and second among the CPAA participants. Padma Narayanan came first among the women and third over all.
