ACTIVITY REPORT FOR JUNE 2004- BANGALORE

 

1. Cancer Awareness cum Detection Camp 26th June 2004

CPAA alongwith Rotary Club RMV, Dr. Ambedkar Hospital and the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike conducted an Awareness cum Detection camp for 179 corporation workers at the Corporation Health Centre,. There was a good turnout of the workers, 179 in all of which 24 were identified as high risk. The report of the camp is attached. CPAA is attempting to engage an enhanced awareness and post camp follow up to ensure timely intervention and tracking of patient results.

2. Participated in the Launch of Cancer Information Cell 26th June-

We participated in the programme to launch information on cancer to the general public launched by Cancer Information Cell at Ambedkar Bhavan. In a programme where S P Balasubramaniam performed to raise funds to support a Cancer Awareness Cell. CIC is a new set-up to increase cancer awareness and CPAA will work out a plan with them. The event was well reported in the press.

3. Cancer Insurance

During the month of June, the following cases were rembursed - Mrs.Thangam G Menon, Mr Rohinton Kamdin and Ms Ruby Kamdin.

4. New Patients Registered in June

1. Gangamma, F- 47yrs, Ca Cervix. Referred by Dr. Belliappa of Curie Centre of Oncology. Patient is undergoing radiation, which the hospital is subsidising and we are supporting with chemotherapy. Prognosis - Good.

2. Bhaskar Rao, M- 20yrs, Brain Tumor. Referred by Dr. Shekar Patil of Agadi Hospital. He has undergone surgery at BMH Hospital, Mysore and radiation under Dr.Ganeshan in Curie Centre. We are supporting his maintainence chemotherapy. Bhaskar is educated and has just started his own business, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. His prognosis is good.

5. Medical Assistance

A chemist, Roshan Medicals is supporting us, by supplying our patients with the cancer drugs at a discount. Karnataka Cancer Society Pharmacy, an NGO working with cancer drugs, supply drugs at almost 30% discount. A monthly credit system is also proposed to them.

6. Fund Raising Events

We are planning our first fund raising event for Rose Day 2004 with the new team. - Bollywood Night - An event management company had approached us asking us to collaborate in an event by inviting some Bollywood stars for an evening to Bangalore. CPAA Bangalore is evaluating multiple fund raising options and shows to enable a re-vamp of the focus and launch of new projects.
