Standard Chartered Mumbai - Marathon (SCMM)

The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon has become an annual event which all Mumbai'ites look forward to. It is an established marathon with participants coming from all over the world.

Since its inception in 2004, the event has grown manifold in stature and popularity, each year. It has become a movement that brings together the professional athlete, the common man, the corporate czar, the politician, the movie star & the physically and mentally challenged onto one platform. For the professional runner it is a challenging race, a test of stamina against heat and humidity.

For the amateur, it is a chance to be a part of an annual extravaganza. For NGOs, the event has become a chance to raise awareness about their cause and generate funds.

RUN FOR CHARITY

World over marathons have been gaining immense importance as fund raising platforms, and the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is no exception.

‘Charity’ is at the heart of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon. An event like this is the perfect opportunity to do your bit for charity – it symbolizes community spirit, melts all barriers and provides a unique platform for fund raising. The 8th edition of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon was a milestone year in the journey of this IAAF Gold Label Marathon. A record of Rs. 12.16 crores has been raised by 131 NGO’s across the country with the help of benevolent contributions from individuals, corporates and groups. The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2012, through various charity raising models, presents an ideal opportunity and platform to bring together the development sector and those who want to support it.

How you can support CPAA: 

  1. Corporate Challenge: Corporate Challenge (CC) is a category specially designed for companies who wish to sponsor employee teams to participate in the SCMM and raise funds for charity. Companies participating in this category make an upfront non-refundable contribution towards a NGO of their choice while registering. Companies who register are assured guaranteed pre-decided number of running slots for their employees. Post registration, the corporate puts together a team of employees who run any of the race categories they wish to – Dream Run, Half Marathon or Marathon. As part of the corporate registration, employees do not have to pay any extra amount as event application fees; however employees are encouraged to raise funds at an individual level for the registered NGO. The Corporate Challenge registration process for this year is detailed below.
    General Round: Registration is open to all corporates who wish to participate in the SCMM 2012. There are 2 team sizes available –
    Team 25:
    25 running spots per team contribution amount being Rs 3.5 lakhs.
    Team 15:
    15 running spots per contribution amount being Rs 2.25 lakhs.

    Since there are limited team slots available, registration is on a first come first served basis. General Round registration has opened on 22nd July 2011 and closes on 30th September 2011 or until number of Corporate Challenge teams are filled. A company registers by filling up the Corporate Challenge form and making an upfront, non-refundable contribution of an amount as may be applicable, in order to join. Company registration for the Corporate Challenge is on first come first served basis.

  2. Individuals: To enroll for this category you need to fill the form choosing the race category he/she wishes to run & give a cheque of minimum Rs 5,000  in the name of United Way Of Mumbai.The form can be collected from our office & have to be submitted by 20th September at our office .
