Get Fit with Every Skip! Champion a Worthy Cause!

A first of its kind event, Skip-a-thon is a 'Skip- for- a- cause' activity where school students are educated, encouraged and channeled into raising funds for Rose Day 2013. Childhood obesity and life-style diseases have become a major concern. A sedentary life - pushing buttons is getting our kids nowhere. Skip-a-thon is a fun initiative to drive kids towards health-consciousness, while growing the spirit of volunteerism.

Phase 1: Pledge support:
Once a school registers for Skip-a-thon, CPAA organizes an inter-active launch demo. Students studying in Std 5 and above (or at the option of the School) can volunteer by picking up their Skipper Kits from their Teachers or assigned School Staff. The kit consists of a Skipping Rope, a Skipper Badge and Record Card in which the student tracks/records the number of skips he/she has logged. The Skipper pledges these skips towards kids less privileged than himself/ herself and suffering with Cancer. Each skip valued @ Rs. 10 garners a vote of confidence/ collection from family, friends and well-wishers.

The money collected/ raised through the child’s involvement/ action – Skipping - becomes the change element in CPAA’s fund for kids with cancer. While the child does good for himself (staying fit) he /she becomes the vital ‘life-saving’ link in cancer treatment of less fortunate children. The underlying idea here is to grow a generation of health and fitness conscious kids more than couch-potatoes and get kids started early in volunteering and supporting a worthy cause.

The participating Schools win too with CPAA organizing a Cancer Screening Camp for Parents and Teachers.

Phase 2: Competitive Skipping:

The culminating event for Skip-a-thon will be a competitive Skipping challenge - where all participating schools will nominate two of their best skippers and challenge them to a Skip-off. The event is tentatively slated for January 2014. Watch this space for updates on the venue, date, time and event-flow.
